Realtime VFX software EmberGen by JangaFX, and an Unreal Nano VDB plugin being developed by Thibault Lambert of Eidos-Montréal together resurfaced my lifelong love of Astronomy by helping imagine and visualise planets and atmospheres.
This cloudscape is my latest effort which is inspired by the clouds of Jupiter and the Juno spacecraft images. Since last month, steadily experimenting and creating increasingly complex shots is helping to refine and improve my workflow.
After gathering references, Houdini is used to model some assets. The cloud sim itself is done real-time inside of EmberGen before exporting as a VDB to Unreal Engine for cameras, lighting and real-time rendering.
